Hello, Design Team Member Pam here. My craft specialty and the items I sell most in my shop are shadowboxes. I love finding new designs, experimenting with new types of cardstock, and making unique items for home/seasonal décor. When I saw this poinsettia design by CustomPaperFlowers on Etsy I knew I had to make this holiday shadowbox design. I really enjoy the specialty papers from 12x12 Cardstock and used them exclusively in this piece. The link above will allow you to purchase the design and the instructions for making it, if you want to make your own.
12x12 Cardstock Shop also has a free paper poinsettia template HERE.
Today I wanted to showcase the difference specialty papers can make versus regular cardstock. I used lots of glitter cardstock and pearlescent cardstock to make this holiday shadow box shine!
Supplies:
- Background: Neenah Stardream Pearlescent Cardstock in Bronze
- Poinsettia flower petals: Ghost White Translucent Vellum
- Mini snowflakes: Gold Touch Mirri Sparkle ‘No Mess’ Glitter Paper (cuts like a dream!)
- Poinsettia leaves: Bright White Glitter Luxe Cardstock by Encore Paper
- Mini (4 mm) gold beads I had on hand
- Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue
- Glue gun
Directions:
- After downloading the file from CustomPaperFlowers, I cut all the pieces with my Cricut Maker™.
- This project requires both cutting and scoring features.
- Gently fold the flowers along the scoring lines until they have the definition and ‘lift’ that you desire
- Layer and glue the flowers according to the directions.
- Place and glue the leaves and snowflakes as desired. Floof and fluff the design until you’re satisfied with the look.
- I used a glue gun to attach the mini gold beads in the center of the flower.
- I glued the Bronze cardstock to the back panel of the shadowbox and then placed the poinsettia so I could experiment with how I wanted it to look inside the frame before I permanently attached it.
Enjoy your elegant Christmas décor!

This would make a festive hair accessory! Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous! I can see this as a package topper, too. I don’t have a Cricut and wondered if the pieces can be fussy cut. I realize it’s a lot of cutting, but I love to fussy cut.
Beautiful and so perfect for Christmas 😀
