Hello! Kandice here!
Some of the hardest choices to make during the holiday season is whether to keep it simple or to go over-the-top. Whatever choice you make, just have fun! For my handmade Christmas cards today, I decided to do both.
Supplies:
- Encore Mirror 12x12 Foil Cardstock in Serene Blue, Rocket Red, Emerald City
- Encore Iridescent 12x12 Foil Cardstock in Lavender/Blue, Mauve
- Encore textured Cardstock in Alabaster
- Unicorn Pearl Mixed Sized Pearl Kit
- Bearly Art Glue
- 3D Foam Squares – iCraft-Therm-O-Web
- Nesting Die - Scrapbook.com
For this project, I chose the traditional holiday icon of a stocking to use as a die for the focal point of my cards. Next, I chose a traditional color (Rocket Red) and a non-traditional color (Serene Blue) foil cardstock to die cut the stockings out. Are you a fan of the non-traditional Christmas colors?
For my traditional card, I die cut a Christmas tree icon and adhered it to the traditional colored card.
For my over-the-top colored card, I die cut my initial out, the letter “K”, of another non-traditional colored paper and adhered that to the over-the-top card. In addition, for this card, I blinged out the stocking cap.
I took the Unicorn Pearl embellishments and adhered them to the stocking cap, to give the card an even more over the top look.
Once all the stocking die cuts were completed for the two cards, I then used an embossing folder for the backgrounds of the cards. Since I was going for a traditional look and a non-traditional look, I used two different papers for each card to highlight the look.
After the embossed backgrounds were made, I adhered them to A7 (5”x7”) card bases and used foam tape to adhere the finished die cut stockings to the card bases. Once that was completed, I added a sentiment to each of the finished cards.
Sometimes the choice is easy; just make both! Do something simple this holiday season and also add a little over-the-top.
If the choice is both, you can’t go wrong! Happy Holiday card making season!
Until then, thanks for stopping by.
