Busted Canvas Handmade Card Tutorial

How to Make a Busted Canvas Handmade Card

To begin, choose a double sided paper to give the illusion of busting out of the card. Kate cut a card panel measuring 4 x 5 1/4 inches and lightly traced a circle on the back of the panel. Choose a circle size that will still fit on your card once the circle is "exploded" (Kate's circle is 3 inches). You want to leave enough space for the open flaps to be showcased. 

Next, Kate took an Xacto knife and cut the circle into pieces (like a pizza).

These pieces are then bent open and secured with foam tape to mimic an exploded panel. 

Next, add a smaller piece of patterned paper to the back of the exploded opening. We like the look of matching the back panel paper to the exploded flaps (yellow in this case), but you could also use a totally different paper here.

Add an image or sentiment and this card is done. Obviously this is a card best delivered in person due to the dimension.
