If you haven’t seen the new Mirri Lava Paper at 12x12 Cardstock you have to check it out immediately! It’s super unique and different than any holographic paper I’ve ever seen. I have countless ideas on how to use it and can’t wait to share with you my first one.

For this project I used:

• Blue Mirri Lava Cardstock 
• Gold Mirri Lava Cardstock
• Gold Mylar Specialty Paper 
• White Glitter Cardstock
• Blue Mirror Foil Board
• Silver Mirror Foil Board
• Black Metallic Foil Board
• Black Acrylic Stick
• Double sided foam adhesive
• Glue

​This is a simple topper to make the Cricut images can easily be substituted with google images. If you’ve read any of my blogs or follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I like to layer my toppers a few times to add stability. This topper was no different. I cut out a few pieces to layer on the back of the topper. I really like the 3D element it adds but it’s totally optional.

My favorite thing about this is how the Mirri Lava paper conveys movement in its pattern. I intended for the racecar to be the spotlight of the piece but, in my opinion, the trophy stole the show. A gold mirror board would definitely convey a shiny trophy but this Mirri Lava catches the light without even having to move the topper. The trophy always has a pretty sheen to it.

I actually attempted a second version of this topper with a different racecar and a medal instead of a trophy. Which one do you prefer? I am too obsessed with the trophy in the first topper to consider making more of the second one (even though my husband prefers the second version).

Cake toppers are easy to make and give such a handmade touch to any celebration!
