Paper Pinata Valentine Classroom Treat
Ditch the store-bought valentines this year because nothing says, “You’re someone special!” like a homemade Valentine’s treat! In today’s project we create these adorable paper pinata valentine hearts with a hidden treat inside. This is a great valentine classroom treat idea.
Supplies:
Let's get started! Cut out some hearts. The size of the heart will depend on the size of your treat. Give yourself a little extra room around the treat for the adhesive.
Use one heart as the base and stick all the hearts on top of each other. Make cuts as shown above. The biggest chunk will be cut from the top heart. Cut a little bit less from the next heart. This will create steps. The last heart should be left uncut as well as the base pieces for the front and back (white and brown here).
Use a normal pair of scissors or fringe scissors to cut fringes in each step, then adhere them to the front base piece.
Sandwich the treat between our newly created fringed heart and another heart and seal it around the edges with glue.
It is easier to do this step if the bottom heart is cut out of a thinner material. I used regular brown paper for this, but think patterned paper, construction paper or even a cut up brown paper sack works well.
These treats are a lot of fun to make with kids. Enjoy!
