Handmade Wedding Card Idea Using Heart Dies
It's not technically wedding season, but for Design Team Member Kate, it sure is! She was asked to make a wedding card for a friend and she pulled out a tried and true design. Save this handmade wedding card design for your next wedding invitation. It's a classic you can use again and again.
Supplies:
- Neenah Stardream in Anthracite and Crystal
- Sirio Ultra Black 104C
- Bazzill Card Shoppe in Marshmallow
- Bazzill Smoothies in Fig Swirl
- Pearl kit in Black and White
- Heart dies from Hero Arts
- Embossing folders from Sizzix and Cuttlebug
- Background stamp from Hero Arts
Kate started out by cutting several hearts (all the same size): one for the gown (in Neenah Stardream Crystal), one for the groom's shirt (in Marshmallow) and one for the tuxedo jacket (in Sirio Ultra Black).
She embossed the gown heart and the shirt heart to add some interest.
Next, the black heart is trimmed to create the jacket, along with two strips of Neenah Stardream in Anthracite to create the lapels.
Kate made a bow tie out of 2 small hearts and a black pearl for the knot. She added other pearls for the buttons on the groom's shirt and bride's gown.
Next, Kate die cut her sentiment and added several layers of just half the word so that the sentiment laid flat over the bride heart.
This is a great way to make your sentiments lie flat when one side of your card is chunkier than the other.
The neutral background shade of Fig Swirl (Kate's favorite) ties the card together. Kate stamped a large stamp design is a subtle color to create a beautiful background.
This handmade wedding card would be perfect as is, or you could alter it to reflect the wedding colors and theme.
