Handmade Card Template Idea Using Patterned Paper Scraps
Fri, Nov 22, 24
Design Team Member Kate here, back again with another strips idea. This time we're using up those patterned paper strips that you've been hoarding! I've got a fun handmade card template idea for you.
To get started, I raided my stash of patterned paper and separated them into color families (blues, red/green, etc)
For the blue card, I trimmed the patterned paper into 1/2 inch x 5 inch strips. Before adhering them down to the card base, I stamped my sentiment to get the right placement. I also lined up the strips directly next to each other. Now this just needs a large embellishment as a focal point to finish it off.
A great tip for adding dimension to an intricate diecut without using foam tape (like the reindeer with his delicate antlers) is to cut the diecut several times (using some solid cardstock for the back layers) and layer together.
I added my embellishment to finish off the card!
Now let's make a few other versions!
For the tree card, notice that the strips are a bit different as they are different widths and are not butted up against each other.
This handmade card design can be adapted for any occasion. It would make a great card for a birthday (with a balloon or cake die) or a Valentine' card (with a heart as the focal point).
