Easiest Handmade Card Tutorial Ever

Thu, Jan 30, 25 . Michelle Price

Ready for an easy handmade card idea that uses just a few basic supplies! Design Team Member Kate said she was almost embarrassed to share this post because it is so easy, but it's a great idea to whip up some quick, colorful cards!

For this handmade card, you need some striped patterned paper (or you could actually make your own striped background) and some simple shaped dies. You will also need a white A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) sized card base.

  1. Trim your patterned cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Use a shape die (circle or square) and cut out the center of the panel.
  2. Adhere the striped panel with the cut out circle to the white card base.
  3. Now just turn the cut out circle 90 degrees and reattach using foam, fitting the cut out circle into the hole like a puzzle piece. The foam attaches to the white card base beneath the hole and pops the cut out circle up a bit off the card base. That's all!

Kate added a foil sentiment on top of the popped up circle. Kate also likes to add dimension to her sentiment by die cutting it in a matching card stock two or three times, then layering it up. This also adds some stability.

Here's how to use this technique to make 12 handmade cards at once...

You could even make 12 cards at once if you had 2 sheets (sized 12x12) of the same striped cardstock. Cut the first panel with the stripes horizontal and the second with the stripes vertical. Cut out the center shapes and swap the shapes to have 12 cards total!
