Have some coordinating cardstock you love? Want to make a bunch of cards at once?

Kate here with a quick and easy way to mass produce some cards AND use up some of that patterned paper you've been waiting to use. This easy handmade card template idea is known as a Cut and Switch Template.

Supplies:

Cut and Switch Card Template Cutting Instructions

For this technique, you will need four (4) different pieces of cardstock, all measuring 4 x 5 1/4 inches.  If you have a paper trimmer that can cut all 4 at the same time, please do!  Otherwise, cut each panel the same exact way:
1. In the portrait view, cut at 1 1/2 inches in from the left side. You now have one long skinny strip that will measure 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 and another larger piece (set this piece aside for now).
2. Cut THIS piece landscape at 2 inches from the left (you will now have 2 pieces: 1 1/2 x 2 and 1 1/2 x 3 1/4)
3. Take the other bigger piece you previously set aside (2 1/2 x 5 1/4) turn it portrait view with the longer edge running vertical and cut at 3 1/4 inches from the left. You will now have 2 pieces: 2 1/2 x 3 1/4 and 2 1/2 x 2 inches.
Now for the switching!  Lay each panel on your work surface and switch each panel around to showcase one of each of the patterned papers.
Glue to your card base and add an image or sentiment.  I stamped out a bunch of the  cupcake images and popped up each image with some Bearly Art Cubies Foam Tape.
Are you ready to give this Cut and Switch Template a try? It's a creative card template idea for making lots of cards at once. You can even create bases and then embellish each one differently.
Don't have patterned cardstock?  Use solid, textured or embossed cardstock!  Or a combination of all of them.  Don't have stamped images?  Use a coordinating ephemera set or stickers!
I made a whole stack of handmade birthday cards using this template idea!
